Youth Fellowship

MS bowling

Middle School Fellowship meets weekly on Sunday afternoons from 4:00-6:00 PM.

Senior High Fellowship meets weekly on Sunday evenings from 6:00-9:00 PM.

The participants in these groups come from church families and the larger community, and all are welcome regardless of faith background.

The extensive programs of these fellowships range from a fourteen-day Allagash Wilderness Waterway canoe trip (a four decade tradition), retreats to camps and conference centers, occasional dramatic and musical productions, serious study and programs on issues of concern to young people, community service, and many less serious activities (like laser tag, scavenger hunts, and ice cream crawls!)

The First Baptist Church in Beverly has a long-standing commitment to youth. A significant portion of the church resources are used for youth activities and many staff hours are spent with young people. FBC’s gym is used by a large number of community groups, such as pick-up basketball games.

***IN ALL CASES, MIDDLE SCHOOL FELLOWSHIP IS OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY! Please invite friends and spread the word! Also – we always have financial assistance for any program available as needed. We never want any interested young person to miss a program due to cost. Please always just come and let Julie or an advisor know if we can help with cost!

Please plan to attend this afternoon’s program. It’s a really important community partner for our wider Beverly community, and we have a long history of being connected with and working to support them in their work of supporting our Beverly community. If you can only do 1, that’s great, too! We definitely need everyone’s help to make the Fair run smoothly! Then, the Fair itself goes until 2:30 p.m. So after your shift you can eat and shop and enjoy the live music –invite your family to come and join you!

Sunday, November 25th – Holiday Parade

11:30 a.m. –3:30 p.m.

It’s the Beverly Holiday Parade, and one of our biggest community service events! We will be walking (or you can rollerblade, if you prefer!) in the Parade, as we do each year, collecting donations of food brought by those along the parade route for Beverly Bootstraps. We need AS MUCH HELP AS POSSIBLE, both to collect all the food AND to show the community OUR support –as a group –for

Bootstraps! Please dress for the weather (we will be outside no matter what!) and bring a friend, if you like. We will meet at the church at 11:30 a.m. (we will feed you lunch) to get ready and get the float set and ready to go, and then we will head to the High School to line up for step-off. When the parade ends, we will bring the food all immediately to Beverly Bootstraps and unload it, and then we will return to First Baptist to put the float materials away and for pick-up. We are typically back at the church and ready to go around 3:30 p.m. on parade day! Please join us and bring along another friend of two, as well!

**With ANY of our programs, we never want cost to be an obstacle to youth being able to attend. If money is an issue, please just speak to Julie Flowers or any one of the advisors, and we will make sure that youth can attend and expenses are covered. We want all youth who are interested to be able to come and enjoy Fellowship – so please let us know how we can help make that happen!***

Upcoming events for Senior High Fellowship (all events take place from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted):

Sunday, November 4th – Cake Wars

6:00 p.m. –9:00 p.m.

Sunday, November 11th – Anxiety and Stress Reduction

6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Life is full. And can be stressful and hectic and anxiety-producing – for all of us. It’s always helpful to have extra tools in our toolboxes to help us reduce stress, calm our bodies and our minds, and feel more relaxed and at ease. Giles Keating (husband of the one and only Heidi Keating, of Middle School Adviser fame!) is a therapist who works with young people to help gain some tricks and tools to manage anxiety and reduce stress –plus he’s fun and funny and always a Senior High Fellowship favorite! He’s coming by to spend some time with us and to teach us some stress-busting techniques. So come ready to learn, ask questions, and relax. Plus, we will have dinner together! Friends welcome (of course)!

Friday, November 16th – Holiday Fair Set-Up!

5:00 p.m. –about 7:30 p.m. Pizza will be served!

All hands on deck to get ready for one of the biggest and most fun fundraisers of our entire year! The church’s Holiday Fair is fast approaching, and we need everyone’s help to pull off our part of that Fair–

the kitchen! We will be serving breakfast AND lunch on Saturday, and we can use lots of help on Friday evening to make sure everything is ready to roll on Saturday morning. Pizza is provided for all helpers, too! Please come and give some time –this really takes all of us working together… plus, it’s much more fun that way!

Saturday, November 17th – HOLIDAY FAIR!

8:00 a.m. –3:30 p.m. OR ANY AND ALL TIME YOU CAN GIVE DURING THAT TIME!

Running the kitchen and serving up the best Holiday Fair breakfast and lunch (we have a great reputation far and wide!) is no joke! We will need everyone’s help to make this happen – and it is a lot of fun (unless there aren’t enough of us and we’re all sad and stressed, which isn’t as festive, so don’t let that be our story!)! There’s great food, lots of laughter, and festive music! If you can stay all day, that’s ideal… if you can’t, please come for as much of the time as you can! This is a favorite program of the year for many people – come and see why!

WE ALSO NEED DONATIONS OF PIES TO SERVE BY THE SLICE AT LUNCH TIME –HOMEMADE PIES ARE PREFERRED IF YOUR FAMILY CANE MAKE AND DONATE ONE OR TWO, BUT STORE BOUGHT WILL ALSO BE GRATEFULLY ACCEPTED!

Sunday, November 18th – Holiday Movie Night

6:00 p.m. –9:00 p.m.

After a busy weekend of working and helping at the Holiday Fair, we’ll welcome in the holiday season and relax in the Youth Lounge with dinner and a movie! Come with a favorite movie-watching treat to share, and feel free to come in sweatpants/comfortable clothes and to bring a pillow and blanket, if you want! As always, friends are welcome!

(or drinks!) to add to the meal. Come dressed in your best and let’s party!
