Shelter Fest Benefit Concert to Support Affordable Housing North of Boston
Now in its second year, North Shore Shelter Fest, a live-performance music festival, will be held in downtown Beverly on Saturday, March 9 to benefit Harborlight Community Partners (HCP), which provides affordable housing in nine North Shore communities.
The event will bring a lineup of talented local and regional rock, soul and popular-music bands and performers to the First Baptist Church on Cabot Street in Beverly for a day of music from 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. The First Baptist Church in Beverly has a long tradition of service to those in need and founded the housing effort now known as HCP. The concert will take place in the church’s massive sanctuary.
Headlining the 2019 Shelter Fest lineup is Barrence Whitfield, nationally respected rock-and-soul frontman who calls the North Shore his home. Since bursting onto the Boston music scene in the 1980s, Whitfield earned a reputation as an energetic live performer in the spirit of Little Richard, Wilson Pickett and Solomon Burke.
General admission of a $10 donation provides all evening access–and all proceeds will support the programs of Harborlight Community Partners (HCP), https://harborlightcp.org/ As the region’s oldest and largest not-for-profit provider of affordable housing, HCP currently owns, manages, or supports 367 housing units providing home for over 500 people.
HCP provides affordable housing for families, elders, those with disabilities, and formerly homeless adults. By focusing on the housing needs of the region’s increasingly underserved population and creating, preserving and operating safe, affordable housing with supportive services, HCP makes homes available to all North Shore neighbors, regardless of means.
Parking for the event is available in nearby municipal lots and food & refreshments will be available for purchase on site.
