Middle School Fall Retreat to Grotonwood

November 2, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - November 4, 2018 @ 2:00 pm

FALL RETREAT at Grotonwood in Groton, MA

Friday, November 2nd – Sunday, November 4th

The Details:
Being away on a Retreat together is truly one of the highlights of the Fellowship year. It’s a chance to get away with your Fellowship friends, to think together, learn together, grow together, eat together, play together, and, of course, laugh together – and really kick off the Fellowship year and solidify our group! Come along and join us for a fun-filled weekend at Grotonwood in Groton, MA.
We will meet at the church at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2nd to make sure we can be on the road by 6:00 p.m. Make sure to bring your signed permission slip with you at this time. We need one from every person going on the retreat, and we have included an extra permission form here, should you wish to bring a friend. We will return home around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday the 4th. If you have a conflict during the weekend, Grotonwood is only about an hour away, and you can be picked up there by family if needed – we would love to have you, even for part of the time!
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR IN OUR CHURCH FAMILY, THERE IS NO COST TO THIS RETREAT FOR YOU! All transportation, food, and lodging are covered – except for dinner on the way there, for which we will stop. If you bring $10-$15, that should be more than enough (and we can assist with that cost, if financial assistance is needed!).
We need to know for sure who will be coming to make sure we have a group to go, so please let Julie Flowers know no later than Wednesday, October 31st! Friends are welcome on this retreat – just make sure to let Julie know they would like to come!
And Don’t Be Without:
* A sleeping bag and a pillow (blankets or sheets if you prefer those are fine, too!)
* Towels and toiletries (toothbrush, hairbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, etc.)
* Warm clothes – including jacket, hat, mittens or gloves, scarf – it can get very chilly up in the evenings, and we will be outside! PLEASE don’t be without warm clothes for this weekend!
* A favorite snack to share with the group
* A favorite board game or card game to play during free time
* One object – of any type – that represents something special about you. You will be sharing this during a portion of the retreat, but you WILL get it back – don’t worry!
Definitely Don’t Bring:
* Your cell phone – well, you CAN bring it in the van, if you wish – we’ll be collecting them once we arrive at Grotonwood…the advisors will have phones in case of emergency, so don’t worry about that! This is a chance to unplug from technology and be present to and with one another! Julie’s cell number is 617-692-0477 for parents’ use, as needed! Also Grotonwood’s number is (978) 448-5763.
* Your ipods, mp3 players, or other expensive music-playing, media-watching devices…we’ll be going away to spend time as a group, so we’ll leave behind all of the technology! Plus, we don’t want you to lose any of those expensive items!
