Youth Fellowship

Middle School Fellowship meets weekly on Sunday afternoons from 4:00-6:00 PM.

Senior High Fellowship meets weekly on Sunday evenings from 6:00-9:00 PM.

The participants in these groups come from church families and the larger community, and all are welcome regardless of faith background.

The extensive programs of these fellowships range from a fourteen-day Allagash Wilderness Waterway canoe trip (a four decade tradition), retreats to camps and conference centers, occasional dramatic and musical productions, serious study and programs on issues of concern to young people, community service, and many less serious activities (like laser tag, scavenger hunts, and ice cream crawls!)

The First Baptist Church in Beverly has a long-standing commitment to youth. A significant portion of the church resources are used for youth activities and many staff hours are spent with young people. FBC’s gym is used by a large number of community groups, such as pick-up basketball games.

***IN ALL CASES, MIDDLE SCHOOL FELLOWSHIP IS OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY! Please invite friends and spread the word! Also – we always have financial assistance for any program available as needed. We never want any interested young person to miss a program due to cost. Please always just come and let Julie or an advisor know if we can help with cost!

COVID-19 UPDATE:

Hello Middle School Fellowship Friends and Fans!

We wanted to make sure to share this update from the church page with you – this is our announcement concerning adjustments and pauses to programs (including Middle School Fellowship, now) for the upcoming 3 Sundays due to the COVID-19 situation in Massachusetts and across our nation.

Please know that even if we cannot meet together in person right now as we as used to doing, your advisor team is here to listen and support you in any ways that you need – we are here to listen, to post silly memes, to support you, and to help think about how we can create community, even if not in person for a time.
Please help us share this news and spread the word to friends… and please take good care of yourselves and your families… be well…wash your hands…take time for yourselves…take deep breaths…try to get outside each day…and know you are loved! We will be reassessing how things are unfolding as we get closer to April, and we will announce any updates to this protocol at that time, ahead of Palm Sunday and Easter.Much love to you all!

Check back here for updates on Middle School Fellowship activity schedule throughout the year!

Friends are ALWAYS welcome to any program, at any time! The more, the merrier!

** With ANY of our programs, we never want cost to be an obstacle to youth being able to attend. If money is an issue, please just speak to Julie Flowers or any one of the advisors, and we will make sure that youth can attend and expenses are covered. We want all youth who are interested to be able to come and enjoy Fellowship – so please let us know how we can help make that happen!***

COVID-19 UPDATE:

Hello Sr. High Friends!

I know this is a very long post – but I wanted to make sure that you all saw it, as it concerns all of us and our Fellowship programs, as well.

As you may not be surprised to learn (given that your schools are closed and, I know, many other programs to which you have been looking forward have been cancelled – I am so sorry!), due to the COVID-19 issue in Massachusetts and across the nation, our church has made the decision to scale back programs and worship for the next several weeks. As we come to the end of that time, we will reassess so that we can give more information about what will come next for Palm Sunday and beyond.

This means there is (sadly) no Senior High Fellowship for the next 3 Sundays – this ALSO affects the planned winter weekend at Joe’s cabin, which will be cancelled. Please help us spread the word by making sure your peers and friends know about this/see this info, too!

ALSO – I am CERTAIN that perhaps the TOP question from this will be “what about the Allagash?” I want you to know that I have been in touch with Kara, as our trip leader, and she and I are in agreement that we should NOT push the trip back by a full week – that would put us arriving back here so late in July that several of you (and Kara, too!) all would have conflicts and not be able to come on the trip. SO our plan will be to run a shortened trip. Beverly is currently announcing a last day of school of June 25th (Essex Tech and other districts represented, tell me if you have a LATER last day, please!). Our plan would be to leave that following day, and grab the end of that week and then the following week, returning July 4th, as originally planned. We KNOW that this is NOT the ideal situation, and we know that there will be sadness around this shift as a result of the school closings and uncertainty from the virus…we share those emotions with you… and we want you to know that we also are incredibly committed to making the best of things with you and running the trip – shorter thought it may be – in the very best way we can and creating an amazing experience together with you.

Please let me know if you have any questions, as always. Please also share this update with friends and families. Please take care of one another – even if from afar (check in with each other, stay connected here, text or email or call, etc). Please wash your hands. Please let me know if you are feeling worried, anxious, or scared. Please know that I am here – even if we aren’t meeting in person – and the same goes for all your advisors!

We love you! Be well, dear ones!

Sunday, April 5th: PALM SUNDAY PANCAKE BREAKFAST!

7:30 a.m. – Breakfast Prep! We need ALL HANDS ON DECK!

This is an annual Senior High tradition that goes WAAAAAYYYY back – come help us prepare and serve a delicious Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast as we blast some Jesus Christ Superstar to set the mood! The breakfast will be served from 8:30-9:30 – then we will need to get the kitchen cleaned up and looking great. Plan on staying until 10:30 or so to make sure that happens… this is a FUNDRAISER for the youth ministries of the church, so invite family and friends to come and eat, too, and help us spread the word!

In the EVENING from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. – we will have a laid-back program in the Youth Lounge after our busy morning – dinner will be included.

Sunday, April 12th: HAPPY EASTER!

No Fellowship Programs BUT you and your families are invited to come and celebrate Easter Day with us! There will be a pot luck (bring something to add, if you can!)breakfast and celebration beginning at 8:15, which will include an egg hunt and lots of fun for all ages! Then Easter morning worship will begin at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome!

***We never want cost to keep anyone from being able to attend a youth program of the church! Please just speak to an advisor about ANY program where you may need financial assistance!***
