This year\, First Baptist and the Beverly Multifaith Coalition is hosting an interfaith gathering to mark the winter solstice and create sacred space to acknowledge the losses and challenges during this pandemic and the hope we find in faith and in community.\nHolidays\, particularly this year with the pandemic\, often bring forth a roller coaster of emotions. How do we find hope and joy in the holiday season\, if a loved one has died\, a job lost or trust breached? How do we hold on to hope in the midst of societal injustice and the wide gulf between those who have much and the many who have little? During this pandemic\, where do find hope and healing?\nThe winter solstice\, marks the shortest day of the year for light and the longest length of time for darkness. It can serve as a metaphor for the journey that we are on. The truth too\, is that the winter solstice\, also marks a turning point in our journey toward Spring. Each day following\, the days become incrementally longer\, building toward the promise and renewal of Spring.\nThis 45-minute Interfaith Longest Night Service\, draws upon the wisdom of a variety of faith traditions. We will reflect on how we find light in the darkness\, hope in our despair\, healing in our divisiveness\, community. The service will have Four Candle Lighting segments\, each with a theme. (Viewing from home\, we are each invited to have 4 unlit candles and if you desire\, light a candle and type in a prayer request or a response). Music is provided by Dr. Esther Chang\, music director of First Baptist\, featuring a solo by Jenn Bobzin. Leadership provided by Rabbi Alison Adler\, of Temple B’nai Abraham\, Rev. DESCRIPTION:February 14th from 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. the church family is invited to drive-by First Baptist Church in Beverly (corner of Cabot and Hale Street)\, and receive some ‘FBC love’ from Reverend Julie and Kent (plus Valentine’s Day Chocolate Kisses!)\, and receive your gift of ‘Lent-in-a Box’.  Lent\, the 40 day season\, leading up to Easter\, begins on February 17th and we want to share this ‘box of love’\, with each household who calls FBC home. In your box will the FBC Homegrown Devotional\, activities for all ages\, comfort food and suggested rituals to make this Lenten season full of hope and healing. . Note: If you know of an FBC member who can’t pick up their box\, when your drive-by feel free to pick up an extra box\, and let us know who you’d like to deliver to. (In the case of inclement weather\, which makes the drive-by impossible\, watch the FBC website www.fbcbeverly.org  for any changes\, the Spiritual Life Team from FBC will deliver boxes to your doorstep\, during the week). For the drive-by please wear a mask and if you wish\, stroll by and receive a box in person.

DESCRIPTION:Maundy Thursday Service of Worship – Join Us on Zoom as We Journey Through Holy Week Together \n\nAs we move from Palm Sunday on March 28th toward Easter Sunday on April 4th\, we do so mindful that the journey from Hosannas to Hallelujahs is not without pain and loss and heartbreak along the way. Holy Week carries us from the jubilation and the triumphant entry into Jerusalem that we will celebration this coming Sunday toward the Last Supper with Jesus and his disciples on Maundy Thursday; then into the betrayal in the Garden of Gethsemane; and into the pain and anguish of the Crucifixion on Good Friday; toward the silence of the tomb on Holy Saturday; and\, finally\, to the joy of the Resurrection on Easter morning. \n\nYou are invited to join us in marking this movement\, the shift that happens in the journey from Sunday to Sunday\, with a moving Maundy Thursday service on Thursday\, April 1st\, at 7 p.m. This service will take place together\, in real time\, on zoom (the link to join is below)\, and all are welcome.
