Holy Week is here! We hope you’ll join us in Holy Week moments, including attending our Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. This beautiful candlelit service helps bring the story of the closing days of Jesus’ life present in our minds, and moves us toward Good Friday. Prayer Stations in the sanctuary are open and available for quiet reflection, prayer, and meditation during church office hours throughout Holy Week, concluding on Good Friday at 1:00 p.m. Then, join us for the joyful celebration of Easter on Sunday, March 31 st ! Our big Easter celebration and pot luck breakfast kicks off at 8:30 a.m., followed by our Egg Hunt at 9:15 a.m. (register by 9 a.m.), and then a joyful Easter worship service at 10 a.m. and featuring the Ordinance of Baptism. We look forward to seeing you!

Book Group

March 29, 2019 @ 2:00 pm

The Book Group will meet again on Friday, March 29 to discuss the year-long bestseller “There There” by Tommy Orange. An enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, Tommy Orange has been recognized as a new and original “voice” in contemporary literature, and his debut novel became a bestseller rapidly by word of mouth. His book describes the lives of twelve Native Americans as they prepare to travel from various parts of the country to attend the Big Oakland Powwow. He gives voice to Native Americans who live in the cities and struggle to find an identity that encompasses their history as a people, the urban struggles against addiction, abuse and suicide, and the beauty and spirituality of their ethnic traditions. Many readers have found this to be a remarkable and eye-opening novel.
The Book Group meets at 2 o’clock in the comfort of the church Lounge. New members are always welcome, even for a single session to discuss one particular book.
